Good Sam includes Biblical storytelling and readers' theater as part of scripture when appropriate. Member Christopher Johnson wrote a moving Maundy Thursday service, bringing the traditional Passion scripture into our everyday lives. Our puppet ministry leads a complete worship service -- sermon and all! -- one Sunday in summer. We have Celtic and Taize weeknight services during Advent and Lent. One night during Lent we did one of Carole Fontaine's circle dances around our Peace Pole outside.
Our communion table reflects the theme of worship that week -- with everything from sea urchins and masks to dry bones and our own brick "wailing wall." During the stewardship campaign, members are often asked to contribute a meaningful object to the table. On All Saints Day we bring photos of people who have been "saints" for us. Currently as part of our "green" initiative with F.U.S.E., Sarah Butz is making paraments and stoles from styrofoam/plastics that we are no longer using during our fellowship hour. Sarah also led a group in making fabric panels that extend our stained glass window into the congregation. Art has also been part of our Sunday messages -- from Rev. Sue working with clay to Thea Pruyne painting watercolors for each of the scenes in the classic story of "The Three Trees." For the International AIDS Candlelight Service, AIDS quilts line our sanctuary walls. Our Center for Spiritual Development also has presented workshops on Arts & Spirituality (visual journaling, watercolor, origami books, etc.)
